Agenda Item: Erasure

Film 35min

Two months into the war in Gaza, in a closed and empty theater in Tel Aviv, seven political activists gathered—each fighting in their own way against the injustices of the state: violence, dispossession, erasure, and concealment. The participants were asked to read aloud protocols from government meetings held in 1948, which had remained classified until recently and were only declassified after a prolonged struggle by the Akevot Institute.

The audience follows the activists as they examine these protocols for the first time, uncovering records that had been inaccessible for decades, and together with them, they are exposed to dark aspects of Israeli history. The film seeks to illuminate the connection between the silencing of past crimes and attempts to suppress resistance to present-day injustices.
